Ernest Blerot
Born in Ixelles (Brussels) on February 21, 1870 and died in the same town on January 19, 1957.
A graduate in architecture from Saint-Luc school in Schaerbeek, a specialist in Art Nouveau Floral, we owe him more than 50 houses in Brussels, including an entire street in St-Gilles.
For each house, Ernest Blérot draws a different facade as well as the interior and exterior decorative elements in a very meticulous way, including ironwork, stained glass, sgraffito, mosaics, hardware and woodwork.
Once Art Nouveau went out of fashion, however, Blérot could not adapt and ceased its activities, fortune made.
A book, at J. Arets Editions, is dedicated to him and is available only from the publisher.
