In 1900, architect Hofman designed this workshop house for naturalist painter Eugeen Joors. His workshop was on the top floor behind the large bay window.

The facade is totally different from the neighboring houses, including the Zonnebloem, just next door, also by Jules Hofman.

Here, the architect gives us a mixture of Art Nouveau and cottage style, with its cut stones on the ground floor, its very floral and very elaborate ironwork all along the facade.

The tulip theme is repeated both in the carved stones of the consoles, in the wrought iron and up to the roof ridge, which ends in a triumphant tulip.

Ironwork plays both a decorative and useful role.

Note the two large balconies that cross the facade from side to side, and the wrought iron work that surrounds the entrance door and the glass canopy.

The house is in good condition, and was listed in April 1984. The mosaic next to the front door does not appear to be period.
