Célestin Joseph Helman was born in Stavelot in 1863 and died in 1929, probably in Brussels.
Trained as an architect and surveyor, he was a shareholder in Céramiques Décoratives de Hasselt. In 1902, he founded his own company in Berchem St. Agathe, specializing in decorative ceramic tiles, items highly sought after in Art Nouveau architecture. Some of his creations were exported to the USA.
On the walls of the restaurant Vincent in the heart of Brussels, one still can admire one of the most beautiful creations of the Helman House.
