Right next to the “De Violier” house stands the “Les Mouettes” house, built in 1905 by architect Jacques Deweerdt.
Undoubtedly one of his most personal and successful projects, after his first creations very inspired by the Brussels architects Horta or Strauven.
The white stone facade on a hardstone base is very decorated from top to bottom, sculptures, supple lines, very elaborate balconies, recessed loggia with ironwork and elegant columns, very well-preserved well-designed woodwork.
The balcony on the second floor, also ornate, is surrounded on either side by two sculpted fish holding the balustrade.
The semicircular arch on the top floor serves as a frame for a beautiful mosaic depicting a rising sun and seagulls by the sea.
Sculpted seagulls still decorate the ground floor, these, less poetic, have a somewhat martial air.
House listed in 1984, in very good condition, meticulously restored.
