In order to counter diseases and epidemics, cities equip themselves with public baths, in order to make hygiene accessible to all.
The city of Mons had this establishment built in 1909, in the most modern style at the time, Art Nouveau.
He will remain in office until the end of the 1950s!
The architect designed a beautiful polychrome facade in yellow and red bricks, decorated with magnificent sgraffito illustrating and announcing the uses of this building: Baths-Showers, Hygiene - Health - Cleanliness.
The period ironwork also evokes waves treated as whiplashes.
The building was saved and listed in May 1991, and today houses a cultural center.
It has been restored with great care.
